Family at Author's Tea

Jennings Randolph Elementary School was filled with pride, joy, and Author's Tea treats as Mrs. Hughes’s second grade class hosted a special Author’s Tea on Tuesday, April 16. The event was a heartwarming celebration of student achievement, giving young writers the opportunity to showcase their hard work and creativity with their families.

Proud parents and guests were invited to sit and listen as students took the spotlight to share their original stories. The students read aloud with confidence and excitement, demonstrating the writing and speaking skills they’ve developed throughout the year.

The Author’s Tea highlighted the culmination of weeks of dedicated writing, editing, and illustrating. Mrs. Hughes and her students have been immersed in the writing process, working diligently to brainstorm ideas, craft narratives, revise their work, and produce finished projects complete with colorful illustrations.

“This event is all about celebrating student growth as writers,” said Mrs. Hughes. “It gives the students a real audience for their work, and seeing their pride and excitement as they read their stories is what makes it all so special.”

During the event, families had the opportunity to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and appreciate the meaningful accomplishments of their children's engaged and purposeful learning. Many parents expressed how impressed they were by their children’s writing abilities and confidence.

The Author’s Tea at Jennings Randolph Elementary School served not only as a celebration of writing success but also as a reminder of the importance of fostering creativity, communication, and a love of learning at an early age.Student reading to special guest
