School Celebrations
The board agreed that Randolph County will celebrate the 4 major holidays: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter. Parents will not be allowed to bring in items for birthdays. This policy is only for the 4 holidays. Please remember nothing can be home made because of health and safety concerns
1. Purpose: To create more consistent and enforceable party, treat, and food guidelines for our schools, which will provide safer and more equitable options for all students.
2. Philosophy of Celebrations: These occasions should be more about the celebration of the holidays and traditions, with a focus on fun activities with less emphasis on food consumption.
3. Guidelines:
a. All treats need to individually pre-packaged and factory sealed, with the ingredient label visible on the individual/original packaging (no homemade treats permitted).
b. Foods containing peanuts and/or tree nuts are not permitted.
c. Principal, teacher and homeroom parents will collaborate to develop a list of food allergies, special dietary needs and health conditions per classroom, as appropriate. Classroom dietary lists will be reviewed and approved by the school nurse.
d. No school celebrations shall take place or food served until 20 minutes after all students are served lunch per policy 4321.1
e. Beverages offered at school celebrations shall not contain caffeine or any type of non-nutritive or artificial sweeteners per policy 4321.1
